9:52 pm	Christmas is over...back to school Erik and I are back at school and Erik is making his bed right now with his new sheets. I got all kinds of good presents for Christmas including a CD burner from Erik, a pony on a stick from Justin and some tee-shirts that say University of Washington from Nancy...I also got other stuff from my family but I don't need to say everything. Break was great...I relaxed and visited with my family and new nephew Daniel...he actually didn't talk, he just stared at me and smiled and cried. I shopped a lot and found some good deals. I am happy to be back, but I am not looking forward to my 830 classes this quarter. Oh well... I wanted to take the class!! (Comment on this)

9:14 am	I'm done, I'm done, I am D-O-N-E: DONE!!! I can't believe I am finally done!! I have waited for so long and my final only took me 20 minutes!! It wasn't even that hard!! I will be home in seven hours and 45 minutes...that is so exciting! Erik is finally feeling better too--no more barf for him!! I am glad he is feeling better!! It's almost Christmas!! 9:22 pm	Ahhhhhhh......it's almost time to go home I can't wait to finish up on Wednesday....I just want be done with this quarter and go home and go to the movies and watch The Lord of the Rings!! 1:48 pm	One down...two to go!! I finished my take home test for Biology 104--Biology for Elementary School teachers. We had to drop it off at her office so I had to walk in the rain and I got sooooooo wet! I turned that in so now all I have left is my paper for English (which I haven't started yet) and my psych final! I can't wait to be done and go home and see my cat and my family and erik's family and his dog! I miss being around dogs so much!! (Comment on this)

9:47 am	Last Day of Classes!!! I am pretty darn excited for the last day of classes. LeeAnn and I have a presentation to do today...I am little nervous for that one! I am glad the end of the quarter is here because I need to go home and eat good food! This might be weird to write since I haven't since sept. 30...but oh well...I have to start again sometime!! 5:11 pm	Time to catch up Since the last time I wrote in my journal a lot has happened. First of all, I don't work at the Oregon Humane Society anymore. I had my last day on the 22 of September. It was a great job. I enjoyed working in dogs most of all. I really being around dogs now. I left for UW on the 25 at 5:30am with my dad and now I am back at college. I have loved it so far this year. I was in a program call DAWGS, which is the welcoming crew for the residents of the dorms. We also helped move people into their rooms. I found this to be an extremely fun experience because I got to meet so many new people. I worked two eight-hour shifts to fulfill my requirement and then I was done. I was very tired by Friday nght when Erik and I were finished with our shifts. On Saturday night, I went to the dance on Haggett Deck and I had a blast. Erik didn't go because he doesn't dance, so I went with some other friends. We danced for 3 and 1/2 hours to the best dance songs ever created including: Billy Jean by Michael Jackson, Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice, and many other hits ranging from the 70's to the music of today. Today I just took it easy. I got my room all organized and I am ready to start school. The best news of all is that my big sister Jessica finally had her baby. She had a baby boy on September 25 at around 1030pm(which means that I never got to see him) and he weighed a healthy 8 pounds, 6 ounces. They named him Daniel Stephen. He lost weight the first day and went down to 7, 15. He slowly kept losing weight until he got to 7,7. It is risky when a baby loses 11 percent of his body weight because that could mean that there is something wrong with him(that's what the doctor said). My sister was worried sick and so she fed him all night long because he had to gain weight(I am not sure what day this happened on). Typically, an infant gains around a half an ounce to an ounce each day. Thinking that little Daniel would only gain an ounce Jessie took him to the doctor with her husband Dan and to their surprise, their baby weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces. The nurse was very surprised by his weight and said that she had never seen anything like it. Now little Daniel is home and happy with his mom and dad and their dog Sissy. I look forward to seeing little Daniel on October 10 when I go home to Vancouver. Looks like I am all caught up now! Hopefully I will not let so much time pass before composing my next entry! 5:26 pm	Workin' at the Humane Society......summer, what's that? It's been a while, but that's what happens when you work full time. I love working at the humane society. It has been the best experience. I learn so much about different animals and how to handle them and all kinds of valuable information I could use when having pets in the future. It is so rewarding to see a dog or cat go home with a good loving family--especially the animals who have been there since I started. I loved a dog named Chico and he went home the other day with a very nice lady....I was so happy! Besides working 40 hours a week, I have two wonderful days off each week. On these days, I sleep until 8am(on days I work, I get up at 4am in order to work at 5), and then laze around with Erik.....we usually sit around and watch movies and eat.....it's fun! I haven't really spent any money....but my list of needs for college grows longer each day! By the way....does anyone know what the restriction is on wattage for microwaves, and is there a limit to how large our friges can be? Enough for now! (Comment on this)

3:49 pm	Opps.....forgot I had a livejournal Yikes. I completely forgot about this thing. Anyway, my summer is going ok right now. I am pretty tired lately. My tiredness is caused by new job at the Oregon Humane Society. It's forty hours a week and I get to work with Erik!! It's really fun. The only downside is that many cats have to be euthanized because of an upper respiratory infection that causes them to sneeze and it is very contagious. Since Erik and I are still in training, we just clean out cat kennels and stock supplies. We also play with the cats--we are cats this week and next week, we start taking care of dogs. It's a pretty awarding job--we are both really enjoying ourselves. In other news, unfortunately my wonderful grandma Margie had a heart attack on Tuesday--very scary. It was a big shock to the entire family--she lived!! She has a little blood clot in one of her arteries from these diet pills she was taking. Her diet doctor had her taking these pills, that were taken off the market, and that may cause heart attacks--isn't it illegal to prescribe pills to a patient that were taken off the market without informing the patient that the pills were taken off the market? Some advice please!! I was very agitated with this news--I can't believe any doctor would do such a thing to a sweet lady like my grandma Margie!! Anyway....enough for now!! 10:15 am	Still Lookin' Still haven't found a job! I am getting very irritated with this job hunt! I applied at Starbucks and they were hiring, so I hope I get to work there. I also turned my application at the Oregon Humane Society--they were hiring too-maybe I will get a call back from them. Tomorrow we leave, we means Erik and I, and we're off to Seattle to get Justin and then off to RADIOHEAD! I can't wait! My first road-trip, and it's with two great guys and I am in love with one of them!! Anyway, enough for now! (Comment on this)

11:00 pm	I need a job! I never knew how frustrating it was looking for jobs, until I came home last weekend! There is nothing for a girl to do around this town! Well, I am overexagerating....but still, it sucks....I need money....and experience(haha)! All Erik and I do is look for jobs and everywhere we look they always say: they have summer help already, they don't take temps, or they think we stink...well maybe not that last one, but the first true we're real! My jaw is not swollen anymore from my wisdom teeth, so it doesn't look like I take steroids anymore. I looked like a body-builder all weekend! My jaw still throbs like it has it's own heartbeat! I hate when that happens. My poor dad has to have a root canal(spelling?), and his jaw is more swollen than mine ever was. During his first root canal in 1989, the oral surgeon didn't remove a piece of the nerve that was supposed to be removed, and it really affected my dad! He never complains and he said that he was in pain...that means it's really, really bad! Anyway, I gave him the best father's day present.....it was the rest of my pain killers from my wisdom teeth...he liked mine the most! Anyway, today I took my boyfriend in Victoria Secret--which he hates(yeah right) and I bought two bottles of Endless Love Lotion, and two bottles of Endless Love bodywash and one bottle of Pear bodywash for only $30.00! What a deal! I saved $10.00! I love good deals! I love my boyfriend! I thought I would get mushy because he is a great guy! My entire family loves him and so do I! We have been together for almost one year and four months and I have loved every second of it! Radiohead this weekend! I am so excited! (1 Comment |Comment on this)

10:58 pm	My teeth, they're gone! I, Katrina Handy, am one brave cookie! I got my wisdom teeth out! I thought I was going to die because of a 20-20 special I saw on TV. Well, I didn't die! I am alive and I look like a chipmunk! One side of my face is very swollen because I only slept on one side last night. When I woke up from my oral surgery, I heard the nurse say she that she had called Erik to come and get me. I don't know how they got his phone number.....Erik thinks I gave it to them without knowing it, but I think they just got it from his file. Anyway, when Erik came to get me, I felt very sick and I was as white as a ghost. He took me home and took care of me the whole day! He let me sleep, while he just sat around watching movies--what a great guy! I have to be the luckiest girl in the world to have found such a caring patient guy to take of me when I need help! He even went to Burgerville and bought me a Strawberry milkshake--my favorite! I am pretty tired right now. Today Erik and I went to the Oregon Humane Society and got some job applications. We are thinking about working there. We really need some full time summer jobs, so if anyone knows of any good jobs out there just for the summer, I would be glad to hear from you! Thank you! 9:35 pm	Wisdom Teeth Yikes....tomorrow I get my wisdom teeth out. I am very nervous, but Erik says I will do fine. He made me feel a lot better today....I was nervous all of last night and today. I only have two hours and ten minutes left of liquid and food and then nothing until after the surgery. Yikes--again. I get an IV, which is good because I don't have to listen to the ripping sound that happens when they pull out their teeth. Anyway, enough for now....too nervous to concentrate. 9:46 pm	Frustration The reason I have not entered in a while is because I have been busy! Just yesterday, I attempted to enter a very long entry five different times, and it still didn't work. Hopefully this entry actually posts! Anyway, school's out for summer--hehe, good song! I am done with finals and just waiting for grades to be posted. I am looking forward to three out of the four classes I took. Astronomy didn't go so well--too bad! Psychology started out promising and then turned on me, and then the final turned out to be a piece of cake! I was very happy. Music was too easy and in English I didn't have a final(obviously), I just had to write a nine-page paper! I learned so much this quarter. I loved all of my classes! Now I am home and it is great so far. Yesterday I went bowling with my family and it was very fun. I suck at bowling, but I still had a great time! I am almost done unpacking and it sucks just as much as packing all of that crap up! Today I went to the dentist and I had one cavity--yikes! It is because I haven't been to the dentist in a year, because I forgot to make an appointment for Christmas break last June--opps! Anyway, just one little cavity and the dentist said my wisdom teeth are really impacted! Good thing I go in tomorrow for my consultation! I have Dr. Boice and from what I hear, he is the best oral surgeon around here! He is very nice and he gives you an IV and then does the surgery...yipeee! I am not really looking forward to having oral surgery, but the sooner the better--these wisdom teeth are making all of my teeth move and it makes uncomfortable to wear my retainer! I hate this computer....this is why entry is entitled Frustration.....it just goes on and off whenever it pleases, leaving me to save my journal entry and either type it over and go to a lot more trouble than I need to in order to post it!
